In the House of Commons Sir AlbertStanley (president of the Board of i Trade) emphasised the importance of the proposed trade corporation. The leading banks were practically unanimous in supporting the scheme. A fundamental change would be necessary in British business methods after the war. The Government would support but not control the corporation, which would secure credits for traders which were impossible to obtain formerly, and thus put Britishers on equal terms with foreignlers. Several speakers described the scheme ' hi a dangerous and mischievous innovation. BUS STRIKE ENDED. ENGINEERS RETURNING TO WORK. London, May 17. The bus strike is unchanged. Many engineers have resumed work, tut at Liverpool they ballotted in favor of continuing the strike and some hundreds 'have struck at Nottingham.
