ELTHAM.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Elfcham, May S. A sitting of the S.M. Court was held this morning, before Messrs G. H. Buc':eridge and J. W. Stubbs, J.'s P. Tho Eltham County Council ranger proceeded Against Frank W. Curtis, for failing to fir an identification mark on his motorcycle. A fins of 5s and 7s costs was inflicted. The ranger also charged J. W. Kendall with failing to register a [log, and defendant was fined 10s and r.osts 7s. E. Miller, charged with being found hopelessly drunk at Omoana, was fmei ss. t The annual meeting of parishioners of All Saints' Church was held on Monday
evening. The night ■was a wild one, and the attendance consequently was .small. The. vicar, Rev, ft. W. Dent, presided. The annual report and balance-sheet was read. The vicar, in his report, touched on the excellent work of the Sunday school superintendent, Mr. C. Madden, and also spoke in appreciative words of viie work of the secretary, Mr. C. IT. Buckeridge. Reference wa« also ins"'" "i the substantial progress of the 0. ! I. Society, and the formation of tho c-ln >), v.Mch was becoming very popular with members and the public.
The election of officers resulted: — Vicar's warden: Mr. O. H. Buckeridsre;' people's warden, Mr. G. W. Bennett; vestry (town), Messrs A. Smaller, A. H. Andrews, A. Best, 11. Tate, and W. Dewhirst; country, A. V. Sims (Ngaere), W. A. Curtois (Mangatoki), W. Cleaver t (Te Roti), W. Death (Rotokare), F. Silver (Rawhitiroa).
Mr. T. Lonergan, dentist, of Stratford, has taken over control of Sir Chas. Burdett's premises in Bridge street. He will have the assistance of Mr. Douglas in liis 'dentistry work. The premises are now ( being attended to, and the latest appliances necessary to the profession introduced.
The races at Hawera attracted very little attention to-day. Probably the half holiday to-morrow will see a fair number of Elthauiites attending.
The Eltham County Council held their monthly meeting on Saturday. A branch of the Plunket Society has teen running in Eltham for some months, and the work of the nurse has been very beneficial to those requiring assistance. Funds are now very low, and an appeal will be made shortly on the society's behalf. Eltham usually supports all deserving objects and this surely comes under that order.
