BIG DOUBLE 'PROGRAMME TONIGHT. To-night, to-morrow and Friday nights will see the - presentation of ft huge double programme at Everybody's picture theatre de luxe. The main item is the second of the celebrated Fox "super-features," a photo-play version of ''Carmen," with Theda Bara in the title role. A scintillant gem 1 of fiction; an opera of universal appeal and undying popularity : a. stage success of unequalled dramatic power. Everyone is familiar with ''Carmen" in one or other of these forms. Now 'William Fox gives to the world a new version'of this fasoiniting classic. Backed by the vast resources of his superb organisation, and assisted by the,best,directorial and histrionic talent obtainable, he has made the screen production of "Carmen'' a masterpiece in every sense of the word. To Miss Theda Bara, star of the Theatre Antoine, Paris, falls' the honor of creating for the moving pi ure public the role of the volatile Spanish heroine, and under the direction of Mr. R. A. Walsh, the noted producer, she has far surpassed her previous screen successes. The second star of the series is a Vitagraph ''Blue Ribbon" feature of unusual power, entitled "The Hero of Submarine D 2,'' This thrilling naval drama must be. regarded as a genuine scoop in the world of filmic competition. This is nothing less tbaii a series of scenes taken in the actual interior of a lighting submarine, the first ever shown 011 the screen as the' stage setting for a thrilling episode in a photo-drama. The United States is at, war wilh Roumania, and the hitter's mine-sweepers are busy in American waters. Unscrupulous politicians and a scheming Ambassador also figure a-- complications. Two naval men are rivals for the l'avor o( a pretty girl, and in the action of the story one' plays false to his country and the other turns up trumps as the hero of the submarine, He is fired through the torpedo tube, blows up the enemy mine-field, and scores his great triumph in a sensational fight aboard the mine-layer.
