APPEAL FOR COMFORTS ON TRANSPORT. The Mayor, Mr. C. H. Burgess, lias received the following letter:— j Trentham Military Camp, March 7, 1017. ■ Sir, —We have been,instructed, on the suggestion of one of our members, by the Social and Sports Committee of the second troopship of the 23rd Reinforcements to solicit your influential assistance in our endeavors to provide requisites for the comfort and entertainment of the men during the long voyage before us, which, is acknowledged hv some of us, who are returned men, to be one of the most trying and monotonous experiences in a soldier's career. Articles suitable for prizes in elocu.tionSu'y and sports contests, etc. The Mayoress, with her usual enthusiasm, is interesting herself in the matter, and she earnestly appeals to any residents who can provide any of the articles required to send them along to the Women'sJ'atriotic Rooms, St. Aubyn Street.
