APPEAL FOR COMFORTS ON TRANSPORT. The Mayor, Mr. C. H. Burgess, lias received the following letter:— j Trentham Military Camp, March 7, 1017. ■ Sir, —We have been,instructed, on the suggestion of one of our members, by the Social and Sports Committee of the second troopship of the 23rd Reinforcements to solicit your influential assistance in our endeavors to provide requisites for the comfort and entertainment of the men during the long voyage before us, which, is acknowledged hv some of us, who are returned men, to be one of the most trying and monotonous experiences in a soldier's career.
