The annual meeting of the EgmontWanganui Hunt Club was held at Patea on Saturday afternoon, Mr O. Syme3 presiding. 'There was an excellent attendance of members. The secretary read the balance sheet for the year which showed that the club was some £2O worse off than last year. After discussing the position from all points as to' outstanding money, etc., it was shown that the club was actually £4 14s 2d better off than last year, The Steeplechase showed a eiecwt balance of £9 16s 3d. The report was adopted. It was resolved that the secretary write to the Wanganui and Egmont Racing £lubs and ask for a donation to the Hunt Club funds. A motion in favour of increasing the subscription from 3 guineas to 5 guineas was carried after considerable discussion. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron. Mr O. Smyes; president. Waverley, Messrs J. Coombe and H. N. Brewer; Hawera, Messrs J. Crocker and R. H. Nolan; Wanganui, Messrs G. F. Moore and Jas. Higgie; secretary, Mr W. Macfarlane; hon. treasurer, Mr. ,T. E. Palmer, master, Mr J. E. Palmer; deputy-masters, Mr R. Crocker (Hawera), Mr G. Lupton (Waverley), Mr L. Strachan (Wanganui). A committee of eight was elected from the various centres. Mr J. C. Gray was appointed honorary auditor.—Chronicle. TURF TOPICS. (By "Moturoa"). The Napier Park autumn meeting, which takes place to-day and to-mor-row, gives promise of interesting racing. A good class of horses is engaged, and • to-day's fields will all be numerous. The Napier Park Cup, run over a mile and a quarter, lias attracted eleven horses.. The top weights have been run- ■ ning well lately, and have paid the penalty. Blackall and Bjorneborg are meet- ! ing them on very favorable terms. i If Tete-a-tete, Chortle and Form Up i see the post in the Flying Handicap there will be something doing. Form ■ Up and Tete-a-tete showed by their form at Wanganui that it takes a ton of weight to bring lesser lights within striking distance of them. A moderate field of eight is carded for the Omanapui Hack Hurdles (1% miles) and the issue looks open. Black Heart may strip as fit as anything, and showed run well at the meeting. Cardrona won so easily at Dannevirke recently that 8.3 does not appear to be a prohibitive weight in the Est Handicap, though Honey Bee and Tressida (if started) may both be depended upon to begin well.
A select coterie of youngsters will line up for the Sapling Stakes, 5 furlongs, and tha result may depend on the start. Silver Tongue is the most recent winner, and interest centres on the showing of the Demosthenes two-year-old asainst good sprinters like Crowhurst and Vagabond,
, Multaine and Hexton are much discussed, horses amongst the welter class, and each is expected to show up during one of the two days. Mystification died'recently in'hi* fifteenth year. The best of 'his progeny are Indigo and Teka.
Kangitero was one of the reputed •'■'.•tone morals" for (lie Napier Cup, but his name was missing on acceptance .night.
Tim Doolan is in work again in view of winter 'chasing.
eW have all been waiting for May Horn to win a race, and she did it twice at Nelson on Wednesday. The Akaroa annual >iii--■"'l:ig 'was held on Saturday in fine v ■;• r. The attendance was large, :■• "ie turnover a record. Jcannott v,t. '.■]<. Cup comfortably from Comely. Vr/.vr Patcli and two others. Peronillo won the Hurdles in hollow fashion, cutting out 1 mile and a half :'n 2.47 2-5. Trcmena (Count Witte-Avaricc) beat o hot favorite (Petruchio) anil a big field in the Maiden. The Welter was won by Aerial (Sant Ilario-Mount Romess), and Star Blue (Cerise and Blue-Miss Rudstone), and Charley (Chariemagne 11-Edna May) scored in the minor hack races. Only two favorites won at the meeting, the others starting at very long odds. F. Gray won on Jeannott, Star Blue and Charley.
The Gazeley tribe had a day out at Tologa Bay on Saturday last, All Grey, W.iiaka and Gazeley accounting for iio less than five events. Tim Maniapoto gelding Brunswick got away with a double, and Mandoline (who'had a busy afternoon), won once and was second twice.
