HOSPITAL SHIP RETURNS.
FORTY-FIVF COT CASES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. ni Aukland, Last Night. Tho hospital ship brought twenty-two officers and 670 of other ranks, including 45 cot. cases, nont of whom are officers, and none are regarded as specially serious. The beneficial effects of the voyage are apparent, as at the commencement of the voyage there were nearly a hundred lying-down; cases. Tho destinations of the men are as follow: Auckland, total 169, cot cases 11 j Wellington, lKand 15; Christchurch, S3 and 5; Duncdin, 95 and 14. The Mayor, Mr Gunson, welcomed tho men on behalf of the city. In thrt course of a speech, Sir Jas Allen paid a tribute to the work of Colonel Collins, the medical officer commanding tho hospital ship, and his staff. It was a matter for gratification tliat the staffs of hospital ships had given their services so ungrudgingly. A special meed of praise was due to the nurses, who ha.l' undertaken risks and had braved dangers. It was a splendid tiling to think that New Zealand men always wanted to be in New -Zealand hospitals, on New Zealand hospital ships and tended by New Zealand nurses.
