METHODIST CHURCH.
TO-DAY'S PROCEEDINGS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Feb. 24. At the Methodist Conference to-day the resignation was received of the Rev. A. 23. Chappell, Registrar of the Auckland University. The Rev. Richaiyl Wilson, minister without charge, and the Rev. 11. Ryan, acting Home Missioner at Tauranga, were admitted members of the conference. It was decided to send an to the Rev. H. Andrews, 'of New South Wales, to come to New Zealand to replace the Rev. C. Siinms. The Rev. W. Beckett was grunted a transfer to the Vietorian Conference on account of ill'hcalth. Owing to the conditions of war it was decided to close the Theological Training College at Auckland for the present year. The principal, the Rev. C. H. Garland, is to be appointed to the Auckland circuit. Students unfit for military service will be employed in ordinary church work. The following were admitted full ministers:—Robert B. Gospell, Percy Baltey and Harold F. Peat. Rev. C. A. Foster and G. J. Warren passed their, third year probation; Revs A. J. L. Menefel and \V. J. Slade tliei rsecond year; and the Revs George E. Brown, Charles 11. Hendon, Ernest I>. Sage, and W, Fordyce their first year, the latter to complete. The Methodist Conference, Wellington, on Saturday, instead of accepting the resignation of., the «cv. A. 11. Clmv>pell, unanimously resolved to place 'V? name on the "Minutes," as "without pastoral charge." Mr Chappell therefore maintains full ministerial status, without parochial work.
