WAR EXPECTED. . VESSEL? AT HONOLULU SET ONI FIRE. Washington, February 21. Honolulu advices indicate that the German population fully expected a rupture with America. Eight German vessels are interned. According to statements by officers of the vessels a plot was arranged to blow them up and a wireless signal was agreed upon, .involving not only the vessels at Honolulu, but along the 'Pacific coast. Tin; message, which was apparently liannlesw, read, "Do you want store!" but to the (Jcrmqns it meant "Diplomatic relations ruptured; destroy ships." The order was promptly executed at Honolulu, where six and the gunhoat Geier were quickly in llames. In each ease the fires wore Overcome, though the vessels were more or less damaged. Machinery wag also smashed. The Honolulu police, under official instructions, assumed control of all the German officers and seamen, who are held safely at the' immigration station,
