HARBOR BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The New Plymouth Harbof Board met yesterday. Present: Messrs J. B. C'onnett (chairman), Newton King, E. Doekrill, C. E. Bellringer, 1), ,T. Hughe*, J. Marx, C. A. Wilkinson and Maxwell. HARBOR MASTER'S RIJPORT. Captain William Waller, harbor master, reported that for the four weeks ending on February 10, 21 steam ships and one sailing vessel entered the port. The aggregate tonnage was 21,799 tons. Imports totalled 73(15 tons, including OSS tons of Government coal. The exports amounted to 1545 tons, making total of SOU) tons handled at the port for the period. The harbor master added that the barque Narwhal arrived from San Francisco on January 20, and remained at the wharf 19 days, leaving again on February 8 'or Papeete. The inward cargo of the *'.irwhal amounted to 798 tons of benzine and 44 tons of lumber. The outward cargo was 27 tons. ■■¥,s[ SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT. i' The works superintendent (Mr. F. Henderson) reported that for the four weeks ending on February 10 the Paritutu dredged on 22 days, the net time being 236 hours. A total of 22,400 ton* of spoil, in 50 loads, was removed Thirty-five loads were removed from the east fairway cut in 148 hours, and 21 leads from the mid fairway cut in 88 hours. The east fairway ciit had been carried outwards 1150 feet from the wharf, and the mid fairway cut had been carried outwards 400 feet from the same point. Owing to the unsettled weather during the last two weeks, dredging had been limited to the mid fairway cut in the shelter of the breakwater. The outer part of the east fairway, about 300 feet in length, will be completed at the first favorable opportunity. The Thomas King dredged on 11 days, the net time worked being 94J hours. The dredge removed 4880 tons of spoil in CI loads. The Thomas King was placed on the slips for 13 days for annual inspection and general overhaul. The dredging was resumed on February 7.
