LONDON WOOL SALES. Australian-N.Z. Cable Association. London, Feb. ii>. A catalogue consisting entirely of second-hand wool was olfeml. There was a poor selection. The Government withdrew all slipes wither', disclosing the basis of values. There was keen competition for the few greasy crossbred* and the demand for merinos hardened. WOOL SALES. The New Zealand Loan and 'Mercantile agency Company, Limited, have received the following cablegram from their London house under date 13th inst.:—Wool sales opened. Sheep—l 800 penned only a few pens being extra prinie quality. At the ope*, ing prices advanced Is Cd to 2s, but about the middle of the sale freezing buyers' ideas of prices were exceeded and values dropped to last week's level. Lambs—4so penned, the quality being fair, with a few pens of prime. Prices were on a par with last week's rates. WANGANUL RAM FAIR. At the Wanganui ram fair on Tuesday there was a keen demand for all classes of rams, Lineolns and Romncys selling particularly well. The highest price realised for Lincoln rams was 122gns, this being paid for one of Mr. Wybourne's rams. This breeder's entry averaged £4O. Rams bred by Mr. G. V. Pearce, M.P., made up to 50gns, and Mr. W. Rayner's up to 50 gns. Romney studs made up to 30gns and Romney flocks from sgns to 13!gns. Sni'thtlowns and Leieesters also sold wJ!I. ELTHAM SALE. There was a record yarding at the usual sale of the Farmers' Co-op. Eltham sale on Wednesday Bidding was brisk, and prices were better than last sale. Store pigs, las to 225, weaners 10s to 15s, slips 3s Cd to 7s. Light store cows £4 to £7 15s, forward cows £7 5s to £ll 10s, fat cows £l2 13s to £l4 10s, bulla £S to £lB 15s, weaners £2 to £4 Is, lambs 13s to 19s, forward ewes £1 13a. AUCKLAND. Clevedon: Springers made £8 10s to £}2 15s, empty cows and heifers £7 to £S 17s 6d, bulls £7 to £9 Tss, steer calves £4 5s to £5 10s, heifer calves £3 5s to £4 Bs, inferior calves £2 5s to £3 3s, yearling to IS-month steers £li 15s to £9, yearling to 18-month heifers £ti 4s to £7 7s Od. Pukekohe: Two and a-half to three and a-half year steers sold at from £l3 10s to £l4 15s, 18-month to two-venr steers £8 10s to £l2 2s Od, yearling steers £G 5s to £S 7s Gd. . Calves, rn large numbers, sold at £4 15s to £0 2s for best, others £3 7s Od to £4 10s, .inferior £1 15s to £3 2s Gd, bulls 7gns to 14<nis., empty cows and heifers £7 17s Gd to £9 10s, yearling to 18-month heifers £0 to £7 12s Gd. Beef was also in large numbers, and sold at Westfield rates. Steers made to £l7 ss, cows and heifers to £l4 12s Gd, springers £fl to £ls.
At the Westfield fat stock market on Wednesday best o> t sold to £2 os, others £2 as to £2 Bs. cow and heifer beef £2 Is to £2 6s, steers from £l3 to £2l 12s (id, cows and belters £8 to £ls 7s Cd. Some of the averages were: Fight steers from Mr. W. Gray, Cambridge, £l9 Gs; IS small steers from Mr. W. Henry, Taupiri, £lO Is; 12 steel's from Mr. W. Brown, Otcroa, £1" ss; 20 cows from North, £l3. Calves were penned in large numbers, and sold at last week's rates. Runners sold at from £7 Is to £ll Gs, heavy vealers £5 lis to £G 10s, medium vealers £3 13s to £3 9s, light vealers £2 is to £3 Ss, small and fresh-dropped calves 7s to £1 17s. Sheep wore penned in average numbers, and sold at improved prices. Best wethers made £1 10s to £1 19s fid, others £1 13s Cd to £1 ISs fld, best owes £1 13s to £1 16s Oil", others £1 9s to £1 12s Od, hoggets £1 7s to £1 13s. Lambs were penned in full numbers, mostly of excellent quality, and sold under keen competition.. Best lambs made from £1 5s to £1 Ss Od, others £1 Is to £1 4s 9d. Thirty-eisht. lambs from Mr. F. W Brown, Clevedon, averaged £1 (is fld, and 35 lambs from Mr. P. C. Holder, Clevedon, averaged £1 9s 2d. Pigs were in extra large numbers, and sold at last week's prices. Choice baconers made from £3 15s to £4 10s others £3 2s to £3 14s, choppers to £5 12« (!<!, large porkers £2 12s to £3 Gs, small porkers £1 15s to £2 lis. slips £1 3s to £1 Ms, weaners 10i to £1 Is.
