DBOWNIXG CASES.AT BOTORUA, BE. POMABE'S NIECE A VICTIM. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Botorua, Jan. 14. Tesli; Simpson, aged 13 years, was drowned at Lake Botorua near the Postmaster Bath at 11.15 a.m. on Sunday He was playing in the shallow water, and slipped jnto a deep hole His brother tried to save him but failed, and was nearly pulled under. About 4.30 p.m. on Saturday, May Damond, aged 17 years, niece of Hon. I)r. Pomare-, was drowned in Lake Botoiti. She was swjmming at the month of Ouana Channel with three of Dr. Pomare's children, and got into difficulties. She sank before assistance could reach per. Her brother was on a launch nearby, *.nd In. jumped overhoard, but got into hifliculties himself Tlie launch was quickly on the spot, but the deceased had disappeared. Dr. i Pomare's daughter also got into difficultjet but was rescued.
