Considerable ,inl;crest was evinced in Hie operations, and a large number of settlers visited the works. Several slaughtermen were engaged and their efforts were confmed to killing lambs. The company has a liii'ge supply of well-conditioned ,a nibs o'l hai/d, and nil those killed yesterday ■vere passed by the Government iiispeetoi as first-grade. Four butchers were expected last evening, but several others art required.' Large flocks of lambs arrived at the Company's yards from Vl : averley and Inglewood yesterday. A number of eattle are also ready tor slaughtering .and these will be dealt with as soon as the beef butchers arc at work. The Company bus sheep and rattle in view to keep .Tin butchers occupied for several weeks, and as time pioeeeds, the supplies are expected to I increase. The splendid arrangements [provided for the handling of tiic animals from the time they are driven to th- Company's pens until their carcases jf-re nady to be placed m cold Murage were in evidence. Every facility is offered the butchers, the Oovcrmnent inspector, and the men deiling with the by-products in carrying on their work. The use to which gravitation and water are put is an interesting feature of the arrangements. A visit to the works wl.cn they are in operation is a most irstructive experience.
