FIELD-MARSHAL OF FRANCE. COMPLIMENT TO JOFFRE.. ■Paris, Dec. 27. M. Lyautey, in a letter to President Poiiuaire, states that the dignity of Field-Marshal of France has been in abeyance, owing to the long peace, and it could not have been belter revived than in favor of General Joflre, who, at the Marne and the Yser, arrested a terrible onslaught at: a moment when the enemy thought to attain their aim and compel us to submit to their will.. The whole country awaited from Government this act of gratitude and justice.
