MAHENO DELAYED.

FOR WANT OF COAL. Christchuroh, Dec. 11. The Minister for Defence (Hon. J. Allen) stated to-day that the Malieno will be a few days late in arriving in the Dominion. "I very much regret having to say this," said Mr. Allen, "but the vessel was held up through not being able to secure coal at Albany, and it was not until our collier arrived from Xew Zealand that the sick and wounded i>n board were able to proceed on the way home. We did everything we could in the matter, sending a collier without any delay as soon as we learnt the Ma-hc-no could obtain no coaj at Albany." The Maheno's first port of call will be Auckland, where she is due next Menr'ay.
