With the exception of a pianoforte solo given by Mrs Marlow, the wlioh of the programme wa. given by the pupils. The following programme was put through: Pianoforte solos, Misses M. Pr.rdie""Harrison, V. Tclfar, L. Jeffreys, N. Nixon .1. Campbell, Atkinson. E. Jury, B Andrews, Master C. Gribbon, and Mrs. Marlow; pianoforte duets, Misses V Andrews and P. Thompson, H. Rowe and E. Bracenirdle, F. Jones and \V. Rouse, K. Jnpp and E. Gaustad; and trio by (i. Cakler, W. .1011, and K. Stoddart. Songs were rendered by Misses Atkinson, I-eppcr and Mr. J. Davidson. During the afternoon Mrs. Bockbessinger (Mayoress) presented the prizes awarded by Mrs. Marlow to the candidates gaining the highest number of marks at the Associated Board's examination. The recipients were: Elsie Jupp, 121 marks (primary division); N. Niekson, 112 (higher division); and N. Bracegirdle lift marks (lower division). A very pleasant afternoon was brought to a close by Miss Phyllis Tate playing the National Anthem. The Waitara Seaside Imnrovement and Surf Bathing Society iavo now been successful in procuring, through the New Plymouth Head Centre Royal Life Saving Society, a suitable line for the life-saving reel, which is now complete and has been placed on exhibition in Mr. Ford'X f/hop window. It is <i very nice piece of: work and reflects great' credit, on the maker, Mr. F. J. Brabant, and Mr. Patten, who painted it. The Society appreciates the work that these gentlemen have done free of cost, and are also indebted to Mr. Pijzcy, who kindly made the belt. The Society is proceeding to erect a suitable shed to accommodate the reel, and will thus expend the balance of money remaining in hand after providing the reel. It is Imped to have a trial run at the end of this week.
