EAST END COMMITTEE.
ANNUAL MEETING.' The adjourned annual meeting of the East End Committee was held last evening. There was a satisfactory attendance, over which Mr. E. Whittle presided. .Or. W. A. Collis, representing the Borough Council, was also present, and congratulated the committee on the work it had done. The secretary (Mr. A. J. Richards) gave a lengthy report on the financial position of the Committee, and, after Fome discussion, it was decided to defer consideration of the balance-sheet. It was afterwards resolved to hold another mooting on November 13, when an audited balance-sheet will be presented. The election of officers resulted as follows: Patron, His Worship the Mayor (Mr. C. Richards, and J. Sehwamm; auditor, Mr. A. C. leyIt was decided to hold a general meeting on each alternate Monday evening, the first meeting to be held on November 13. On the motion of Mr. H. Bellringer, it was decided to record the meeting's hearty appreciation of the many services rendered to the committee by Mr. W. Roch, the late secretary, who is now on his way to the front. Votes of sympathy were passed to Messrs W. A. Collis, F. Scrivener, and Mrs. Duller, in the loss of their sons at the front.
Votes of thanks were passed to the outgoing officers, committee, ladies, Borough Council, owners of boats, and the press.
