CAPE EGMONT HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
ANNUAL MEETING. The eighteenth annual meeting of the Cape Egmont Horticultural Society was held in the Warea Hall on Tuesday evening, and a fair number of members were present. The balance-sheet showed a very satisfactory increase in nearly all receipts except for entries, which wore somewhat smaller than at previous shows. This, no doubt, was largely due to the present scarcity of labor, but the smaller number of entries was fully compensated for by the better quality of the exhibits. Although the total receipts were larger than for the previous year, the nctt balance was only £7, as against £2l 12s. This was owing to the cost of better staging and exhibition boxes, which had been long needed, and which added greatly to the convenience of exhibitors and the general effect of the show. The balance of £7 was again donated to the Belgian Fund, making, with that previously donated, a total of £2B 12s.
Mr. J. Burgess was again elected president, and Miss M. Corbett secretary. It was decided to hold an autumn show, and that the nett proceeds should be donated in equal proportions to tlu Wounded Soldiers and Belgian Belief Funds. The date _ for the show was left to be fixed at at'meeting to be held the first week in December.
Votes of thanks to the president, and to Mr. Keemble for auditing the accounts were passed, and the mooting terminated.
