PATRIOTIC WORK.
■Yesterday was "Tobacco Day" at the Wanvakaiho links, and some capital tourneys took place. All the proceeds, which amounted to close upon ,-£l2 will he devoted to the fund for supplying the soldiers at the front with tobacco and cigarettes.
The proceeds of to-morrow's sale of flowers by the Women's Patriotic Committee will be devoted to the requirements of the Y.AI.C.A. institutions near the firing line in France. Donations of Bowers will be much appreciated. The Red Cross Mart will be open a«ain to-morrow for the usual transaction of business, and gifts of all descriptions will be gladly received by the committee. Houehold commodities, such as jams, pickles, and home-made bread will be much appreciated, for these always find a ready sale.
