NAVAL ADVENTURES.
OF NEW ZEALAND'S NAVY. '(From Our Own Correspondent')' Wellington, Oct. 2. The naval men who arrived in Wellington this morning on leave from the New Zealand cruisers Philomel and Pyramus have many stories that they could tell. But their instructions are not to talk about their adventures of the last two years, and for the most part they are obeying orders. If they do say something of perilous cruisings and queer happenings in and out of the war corners of the world, their word's are not intended for the ears of pressmen, and it would be ungenerous to repeat them in print. But when the war is over, and soldiers and sailors are free to tell of ma*ny naval occasions, the men of the Philomel and Pyramus will be able to spin yarns that will make New Zealanders very proud of the two cruisers. They are not modem ships. They cannot take place in any line of battle, or even range themselves with the swift scouts that are the eyes and ears of the battle-fleets. Yet they have seen more real adventure than can be counted to the lot of some of Admiral Jcllicoe's super-Dreadnoughts.
