MATINEE TO-DAY AT 2 p.m. "THE FIGHTING PARSON," A strong open-air M'ostem story, with a remarkable and novel plot, vigorous and artistic acting, and much magnificent scenery amid the hills and valleys of Western America serves to introduce ''The Fighting Parson," a Triangle feature that thoroughly delighted a large audience at the Empire last night. The story tells how a parson arrives at Barren Gulch with his wife and child. He ' uilds a little church, and while the first service is l>emg held "Doe. Hardy," an ontaiid-out gambler, who runs the saloon, elopes with the parson's wife. When the parson finds his wife gone his heart is embittered, his preaching turn 3 to cursing, and he lives with his baby girl the life of a hermit. His child is stricken with fever, and he is at his wit's end to know what to do. In the midst of a thunderstorn tne sheriff arrives with the news that "Doe. Hardy" is in town. The parson ride 3 into town, drives his enemy back at the point of a revolver, and forces him to make his child better. In the midst of it all the parson's wife arrives and is asked to choose which man she loves. She goes back to her husband.
