foremen's reports. Tlie following foremen's reports were adopted at Wednesday's meeting of tlic Stratford County Council (reported in yesterday's issue): North Riding (Foreman Brown). — Denbigh road: We have been 011 this road most of the month, having re-met-alled ever half a. mile with crushed metal and u quarter of a. mile with pit metal, the bitter 'being carried out by Xeilson. Monmouth road: We arc crushing on tliis r«ad now, 'but are very short of labor. Der'by road: There is a culvert broken in on this road, which will have to In: seen to soon; l.j-incli pipes will carry the water. Kovaleski.—With the exception of Stanley ami Acklmr' roads, the roads under my care are now in fair order, as we have spent nearly all the month in patching. We assisted with the tarring and .metalling of the now Stanley road bridge for a fenv days. The drain on the Stanley road, near Mr. Kerrisk's property has been filled in sufficiently for animals to cross. East Riding (Foreman Richards).— During tlie past month we have 'been busy . with general maintenance work throughout the riding. Bea'.'onsfii-.ld read: Banking up metal and widening two fillings. Huinga road: Watertabling and patching. Waiwiri, Aliuroa, cast and west, have also been attended to. Oliura road has had all tile loose stones raked off. We. spent three days prospecting for a metal pit on Toko road west without success. The roads generally throughout the riding are in fair order. South Riding (Foreman Parker).—We have put in the road at the tar depot, using eight Oin pipes; eight Oin pipes have been put in 011 the Mountain road. The filling 011 the Upper Bird road has beei) widened and three Oin pipes put in. Lower Bird road: A culvert in front of Mrs. Green's property is blocked up, and 'upon investigation I found it had been filled in inside the fence. This drain was made some years ago when Mr. Break owned the property. "West Riding (Foreman Plews). — Crushing operations have 'been carried out during the nionth on Opunake No. .1. Twenty chains have been re-metalled from Rowan road out toward our 'boundary, and 20 chains from Rov.-an factory toward Manaia road. We are at present engaged in re-metalling Manaia road south from the boundary up. One team is carting' out additional stone till Green's lot is cut out. Huiroa Riding (Foreman Atkins). — Advantage was taken of the fine weather which prevailed during t'he earlier part of tlie past month in carrying out necessary horse work. Tunupo road: Zureher's, filling and necessary repair work has been carried out .Autawa road: Work on this is progressing steadily. A further 201 feet of bridge timber has been taken'from Baker's bridge for culvert purposes. Akama road: A cutting near the west end has been fascined throughout. Necessary drain-clean-ing and repair work has also been carried out. Mohakan road: Two stop hanks have been put in, for the purpose of preventing, as far as possible, private land as well as the road from becoming carried out to tlie metal on the Ma'knri flooded. Necessary patching has been done, A 21ft 0-inch pipe culvert has been inserted on the Makuri road west. Repairs hare also been carried out on the Douglas roads north and south. On the former road tlie renewal of a wooden culvert was necessary. Twenty-one feet of Sin pipes were put in on Heao road. About three chains of drain have been cut, to permit a 2ft Oin pipe culvert being inserted opposite Mr. Muir's residence. I understand that W. Jacobsen would undertake the clearing and repairs necessary to the river end of this road under the contract system. Mangaehu Riding (Foreman Savage), —I have been engaged this month in patching and banking metal, clearing M-n'icr-tables'and putting in pipes 011 the Mangaehu road, banking metal on the Tututawa road, clearing water-tables and widening a narrow place 011 the Mangaehu road. I have also pulled down the shed at IPuniwhakau, anil carted it to Tututawa. All other roads are in fair order.
