THE CONSCRIPTION PROBLF.::. Melbourne, Sept. 10. - In the House of Representatives there was a conscription debate, several Labor members pledging tbwnselves to support •the measure. Mr. Charlton saw no objection to a referendum, but there should be no hah" measures. If they are going to conscript life, all incomes over a living wage, should go to the common exchequer. Mr. Hughes stated that if the referendum was carried the sons of naturalised Germans would be liable for service, at the Government's 'discretion, CASUALTY LIST. Sydney, Sept. 10.
