RECOMMENDATIONS OF COUNCIJ3 OF EDUCATION. By Telegraph,— Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Tlip Council of Education discusse* Hii. lion. R. H. Rhodes' offer of £IOOO us the nucleus of a fund for the establishment of .a Lord Kitchener Memorial Scholarship, und made the following re. ■■omiiiendations: "That the Government lie requested to establish a scholarship to be called the "Kitchener Memorial Scholarship," open to competition to sons of fallen officers, non-commissioned ollicers, and men of the New Zealand Kxpeditionary Forces, for the purpose of assisting such sons to en*,er a naval college to qualify for the navy; that the donation of Col. R. H. Rhodes, M.P., be applied to a fund for the establishment of such scholarships, and that pub' lie subscription be invited to augment such fund, which the Government be requested to subsidise; that after tho eons of fallen officers, non-commissioned officers, and men of New Zealand Expeditionary Force need no longer be pro* vided for, a scholarship be available to sons of returned members of tho said forces, and when these need no longer he provided for that f cholarsbips Jbe available for sons of officers, non-coin-missioned officers, and men of the New; Zealand Navy, Army, and Air Services, for the purpose already indicated;' that Education Boards throughout New Zealand be requested to invite publio bodies within their districts to call for public subscriptions to the fund,
