THE TONGARIRO
THE VESSEL'S POSITION. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Napier, Yesterday. Reliable advice has reached Napier concerning the position of the Tongariro cargo. -It can be salved at low tide, but at high tide occasionally there is a heavy swell which prevents preparations for a few hours. The wind being from the north quarter since the wreck has prevented the vessel breaking up. A 1 fair amount of cargo lias been removed. Another big crack has appeared in the vessel. Salvage of the bull is hopeless. Captain Plunkett, Lloyd's surveyor, inspected the wreck to-day. •' WATERSIDE WORKERS' GRIEVANCE. Napier, Yesterday. Tho waterside workers at Port Ahuriri this morning refused to accept work offered by Messrs, Richardson and Co., their grievance being that they ahould all have a turn at the work of unloading the Tongariro at 10s per hour and 15s per hour overtime. No end of men accepted the work. Three boats 'vere affected.
