PATRIOTIC RAFFLES.

- FOR THE RED CROSS FUND. LAST NIGHT'S WINNERS Some months ago Mr. Charles Curtis, of Stratford, presented a motor lauucli to the Ngamotu Seaside Committee. The executive of that body, having decided to nuke an effort to help the Red Cross Fund, it was agreed, with Mr. Curtis' sanction, to raffle the launch, and, the permission of the Minister having been obtained, the rall'le was soon in progress, and the launch was drawn foi last evening at the Town llall. Tickets sold realised £SO 2s, and after paying inevitable expenses the Ngamotu Committee hope to hand over about £4,1 to the fund. This result must be admitted to be very satisfactory. The winning ticket, drawn by Mrs. K. A. Walker, proved to be 7SI, purchased 'by -Mr. Archie Hooker, Courtenay Street, New Plymouth. SOLDIERS' COMFORTS. Mesdamcs Hugh Baily and D. K. Morrison, who are again interesting themselves in providing Christmas comforts for the soldiers, were responsible for a rall'le for prizes presented by several ladies and gentlemen. Their efforts met with splendid success, the sum realised, gross, being £122 10s, which it is hoped will be raised to £2OO within a week or two. Mrs. Matthews drew the tickets, and the prizes ivere allotted as follows; Gold watch, Nlo. 'MIS, Mr. J. Pickering, e/o Newton King, New Plymouth; gold pendant, No. "2303, Mr. 'P. Percival, Criterion Garage, New Plymouth; case of pipes, No. 21139, Mrs. Ford, Courtenay Street, New 'Plymouth. Mesdamcs Baily and Morrison desire to thank the following ladies and gentlemen for contributions;— Gold watch, Mesdamcs H. Weston, F. Blundell (Carrington Road); W. Perry, Quilliam, Misses Reed and Testar, Messrs H. Baily, Morrison, Roy and Elliott; pendant, Mr. K. Greiner; pipes, Mr. W. C. Weston.
