WAITARA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Waitara, June C. The Waimate is expected in the Roadstead 011 Friday next from Nelson, to lift a quantity of frozen meat and a general cargo. She is to be followed by the Whakarua. which steamer is due here at an early d&te. Some splendid work was done to the Vvaitaiu East Improvement Society's tratk by the. residents of Waitara East on Saturday last and . yesterday, and they succeeded in completing the work of top-dressing the track, which it is hoped will be able to stand a fair amount of traffic during the coming summer.
Considerable amusement was caused by a well-known lady of this town last evening, who adopted the role of organgrinder and called at a number of residences collecting coin in aid of the Indies' Sewing Guild, and succeeded in collecting quite a substantial sum in aid of ti-.U worthy object.
