(From Our Own Correspondent.) . In .tlu! Police Court on Friday last, judgment for plaintiffs in the following cases was given:—H. C. Luke v. J. Rogaski, £1 Is, costs IOs; W. G. Ladbrook v. 0. G. Haines, £l2, costs 10s. The following fines were imposed for non-attendance at parades: IT. Emies, 10s and costs 7s; P. Ward, r>s, costs 7s; K. IP. Lawson, convicted without fine or costs; E. W. Taylor, ss, costs 7s; A. Martin (reported as a very bad case), fined £3, costs 7s; P. Salisbury, convicted without fine or costs; J. Evetts, convicted with costs 7s; C. Hall, convicted with costs 7s.

On Friday afternoon a pleasant little function was held in the school, the occasion being a farewell to Miss R. Roseveare, of tlife local school. Mr. D. P. Evans, the headmaster, in a complimentary speech, referred to the excellent work done by .Miss Roseveare as mistress, and her popularity not. only with the children but with the parents also. Mr. .Messenger, chairman of the committee, expressed regret at the loss t,lie school sustained through • Miss Roseveare's decision to seek fresh fields, and wished her every (Success. •On behalf of the children little Miss LaWson then preslffited Miss Roseveare with a handsome gold bangle. The Rev. fßoseveare suitably replied on behalf of his sister. > i| i The patriotic social on Friday night was another very successful gathering. The floor was in very good border, and the music by Miss Curd, Messrs Stockman and Lamb was of the bes£. Progressive euchre 'vas well patronised and appreciated. The ladies' prizes were by Miss Brown 1, Mrs. Heatly 2; and the men's by Mr. H. Williams 1, and Mr. 11. Coad 2. The duties of M.C. were well carried out by Mr. De T.aunay. About £9 is to be added to the fund as the result of the effort. On Monday the Oolf Club's tournament duly eventuated. The weather was ideal, but t.ie play generally was not of the best. The morning was devoted to a. medal competition and resulted as follows: —E. R. O'Carroll 83 net, F. H. Brown and TI. Thomson 84. W. Hogg 88. Maitzig 80, J. Sutherland 90, Darlow 91, Surrey 92. Geddes A3, and Marshall 90. The match against bogey in the afternoon resulted in Messrs O'Carroll, Johnston, and R. . Young returning cards of 7 down. They play off next week.
