CONFERENCE AT WELLINGTON, By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, April 24. At the Poultry Conference Messrs E. Gallichan and R. W. Hawke were elected vice-presidents, Mr. J. B. Perretfc was rc-clected secretary, Mr. J. iA. Sim-son wts elected assistant secretary, Mr. C. Renn was re-elected hon. auditor, and Mr. F. C, Brown (Government poultry fexpert) was re-elected adviser. Messrs Si H. Scott, A. G. Mumlsy, W. Kiight, G. Fian, and E-. O'Reilly were elected the executive of the iPoultry Association. SECOND DAY'S PROCEEDINGS. IMPORTATIONS OF CHINESE EGGS. Wellington, Yesterday. At the Poultry Conference to-day one of the delegates strongly-advocated that the Government be asked to investigate the quality of liquid yokes now arriving in the Dominion from Asiatic countries. He said that the birds were practically scavengers, living in the gutters of the Chinese streets. Their eggs cost twopence a dozen in China, and were imported here in unglielled form and used by some bakers. Another speaker &aid that some three million Chinese eggs were arriving in New; Zealand during the next w?ek or so; and it was seated that, the tion was due to the fact that' New Zealand could not produce sufficient eggs. Eventually it was decided to make representations to the Government regarding Chinese eggs.
