MINISTER OF DEFENCE.

VISIT TO NEW PLYMOUTH. The Minister-of-Defence (Hon. .T. Allen) will .be in New Plymouth to-dav. Mr. Allen will leave Stratford this morning -by motor at 0.45, arriving at Egmont Village at 7.50. he will be met there by' his Worship the Mayor, with his car, and taken to the Mountain House for breakfast, leaving there so as to arrive in New Plymouth about 10 o'clock. He will then visit the iron smelting works at Moturoa, and, at Mr. Griffiths' request, the Bonithon Company's bore, arriving in town to the Recruiting Committee at 11 o'clock. If time permits, ,Mr. Allen will inspect the cadets at the Drill Hall about 2 o'clock, arriving at the -Anzac service at 2.30, where lie will he one of the speakers. Immediately after the service he will visit the rifle, range with the president of the Agricultural Society (Mr. J. Comiett) to discuss certain improvements the Society are about to undertake there. At 7 o'clockhe will attend the function given by the young men to the veterans, where he will make a short speech, leaving at five minutes to 3 to attend the Theatre, where he will again speak. The Minister leaves by steamer for Auckland at 9 o'clock.
