RIFLE SHOOTING.

NEW PLYMOUTH DEFENCE CLUB. DEFEATED BY WANGANUI AND PATEA, A team from the New Plymouth Defence Rifle Club journeyed to Wanganui on Good Friday morning and fired a match with the local club. On Saturday they fired a match for the shield with the Patea Rifle Club. Though defeated in both cases they had a most enjoyable trip. THE WANGANUI MATCH, At Aramoho the members of the team were met by the local team and motored to the range, afterwards being motored to town. They were also entertained at afternoon tea and luncheon and were the guests of Wanganui at the pictures in the evening. Wanganui won this match by 02 points. Two of their men Bcored possibles at Scores:—

280 299 270 849 AT PATEA. At Patea, the visitors were as usual very hospitably treated. Some fine shooting was shown, Rfm. Butcher scoring 99 and Rfm. D. Thompson 98 for Patea. The highest scorer for New Plymouth was Dep. Pres. W. Bruce with 97 points. New Plymouth failed in their quest for the shield by 23 points. ■ Scores:—
