_ A SUBMARINE SUNK. Z CREW TAKEN PRISONER. Paris, April 6. Official: An Anglo-French flotilla sank a German submarine. The. officers and crew were taken prisoners. THE NORTH SEA. Grey that navigation in the North Sea is v so dangerous that England is unable to undertake the transport and exchange of Anglo-German incapacitated soldier prisoners.
MORE VESSELS SUNK. MANY LIVES LOST. London, April C. A German submarine last night torpedoed tlie Manchester steamer Zent, without warning. While launching the boats, forty-eight of the crew were drowned: The captain and ten of the crew and two injured men were picked up. The Norwegian steamer Baus has been torpedoed and four of the crew are missing. ARMED MERCHANTMAN HELD UP, Washington, April 6. Tlie Administration refuses to clear tile French merchantman Vulcain, unless the French Government gives assurances that the guns on board will be used only for defensive purposes. COAL RESTRICTIONS. The Government has informed Scandinavian shipowners that after April 25 they will not be allowed to carry coal from England unless they contract to carry cargo from a neutral port to England or the Allies. Copenhagen reports that the increased submarine destructiveness is disquieting to the Scandinavian Governments and shipowners. The Norwegian Government has requested Germany to investigate whether tlie sinking of the Norwegian vessels is due to German submarines, and also demands compensation.
