SEPARATION ALLOWANCES.

AGREEMENT WITH. AUSTRALIA. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, March 29. The Minister for Defence stated to-day that he had completed reciprocal arrangements with the Commonwealth Defence Department in connection with the payment of separation allowances. The agreement, which come into operation as from the beginning of the present month, provides that the New Zealand Defence Department would pay separation allowances to wives of members of Australian forces, resident in this country, while the Australian authorities would pay.ah allowance to New Zealand wives who might be resident in the Commonwealth. There would be a subsequent adjustment of accounts between the two departments. Mr. Allen wrote to the Australian Defence Minister on this subject some time ago, and instituted the negotiations that are now being completed.
