SHIPMENT OF CHEESE.
The present outlook. The outlook is anything but cheerful just now so far as cheese shipments are concerned (says the Star). The stores /at Patea are full and Moturoa is almost full, and there are no immediate prospects of any ''loats sailing which will take away any appreciable quantities of cheese. The next two boats will probably only take about 7000 crates from Patea, but that will not relieve the position much, since it is arriving at that port from tho various South Taranaki factories at the rate of 1200 crates per day. Only about one-fifth tho usual quantity of cheese is leaving New Zealand for the merchants in London, and unfortunately even the whole of the Imperial commandeered cheese has not gone forward. Those exporters who have been shipping to the West of England ports have been gaining some advantage, as none of the Imperial Government's consignments have gone there. The position at present, said the chairman of one of Taranaki's large dairy companies, is worse than at the time of the big strike.
