The Government provides all essentials for sick and wounded New Zealanders at tlie front or in England, but inany additional things for the men have been supplied so far by subscriptions <>' Patriotic Societies. This addirfonn money is now spent, and the Minister for Defence %s now written to the ' various societies asking if they could between them find £3OOO a month ior these extra comforts, which w'eragro'tlly appreciated by invalids. So far there has been practically no response to Jl'e appeal.
