FIRE AT OANUI.
THE DAIRY FACTORY DESTROYED. The Oaonni Dairy Factory was totally destroyed by fire about 3.30 o'clock on Saturday morning. The whole of the , main building was completely, gutted, and.a quantity of butter and cheese was consumed by the fire. The outbreak started in the old building -adjoining the main structure. The insurances, which are with the 2-<ew Zealand Insurance Company, are:—Cheese factory £775, contents £625; butter factory £250, contents £7OO. Neighbors were aroused by explosions caused by the bursting of cylinders of ammonia, and they discovered both factories ablaze. So complete was the hold which the fire had that nothing could be done to arrest the flames. Both buildings were quickly gutted with their contents, There were 550 crates of cheese, worth about £3OOO, in the cheese factory, all of it being destroyed with the e.weption of nine crate.s The cheese was insured under Lloyd's policy. The loss U a severe one to the district, but. fortunately it comes at a time whne the flush of the season has eased oil', so that suppliers will in the meantime be able to get their n;-lk dealt with at neighboring factories.
