EXPORT OF HIDES.
AX arrangement reached. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Representatives of the Tanners' Association, the Board of Agriculture, producers, and exporters met the Minister of Munitions and Supplies to-day to discuss the effect of the recent prohibition of the export of hides weighing 45 lb or over. The conference resulted in a unanimous agreement that, with the exception of bulls' hides, the minimum price for all well-flayed good-conditioned meat works, abattoir, or butchers hides should be, for cow 9d per lb, and for ox lOd per lb, both subject to the usual tare allowance. If the producer is unable to obtain these prices in New Zealand, and produces conclusive evidence of this, the Minister will be prepared to consider applications for permission to export, while hides required for local purposes will be obtainable at the current market price. The result of the conference will he that tanners agreed to supply boot- ' makers who entered into contracts .for military supplies at a price agreed upon prior to the Government's embargo.
