TARANAKI AUTUMN SHOW.
Regarding trlie approaching show of tlie Taranaki Agricultural Society, it may be stated that the executive is making every effort to ensure the 1010 gathering being equal to those of the past. Although this is war time, there is every reason to believe that the efforts of tlie committee to hold the annual show as usual will be rewarded by attendance of the public and nominations in large numbers by owiiovh of stock. Apart from the honor athu-h----ed to thesecuring of a championship ribbon, it is up to the farmers possessing the thoroughbred horse and pedigree bull, the purebred pig, etc., to exhibit eame. The fame of being placed first in a well-contested class will do much to enhance the reputation of the breeder of the winning stock. It also affords the inexperienced farmer and the townsmen splendid object lessons on what the "best of stock" really stands for, To those not particularly interested in stock, it may be mentioned that a show is not by any means a dull performance. There is plenty to be seen and enthuse over in the leaping and jumping competitions. Side shows are generally a feature of these outings, and the tent men are sure to muster strongly 011 this occasion. The weather, always an important feature, only needs to be fine to make tlie two days' fixture pleasant to patrons and profitable to tile Society. 'Entries close 011 Saturday, 19th inst. Send for schedules to the secretary, box 19, New Plymouth.
