OPUNAKE.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)' Opunake, Saturday. . At the S.M. Court on Thursday, before Mr. A. Crooke, S.M., the Opunake and Oaonui Dairy Companies' case was further adjourned for two months. In the case G. King, junr., v. Opunake Dairy Company, decision was reserved. 'Plaintiff, who was represented by Mr. Gow. sued for the return of £l4 retained by the Opunake Dairy Company from his milk supply cheque, contending that as he never applied for the shares they were not allotted, and tliat the articles of association did not give the company power to allot the shares. It was admitted the articles of association were old and out of date, hut that plaintiff signed a receipt in full payment of account for milk, accepting the deduction for shares allotted, also that it was the custom to make these deductions. His Worship, in reserving his decision, stated that he did so on the point of the receipt signed by plaintiff, accepting the cheque and deductions. It was the only point the company had in their favor; the company had accepted plaintiff's milk and were entitled to pay for it. _ The course open to them, under their articles of association was to refuse to take the milk until he agreed to take up the required shares. The Opunake public school picnic was held at the Opunake Bay on Wednesday, and was a very pleasant function. A large number of adults attended. The Presbyterian Sunday school picnic was held at Pettigre'w's farm on Thursday. The children were conveyed to and fro in Mr. Million's motor lorry. At the last stock sales there was "a noticeable advance in the price of weaners. At a private sale on Saturday a small line brought 45s a head. i A public meeting 0 t the Egmont Patri- I otic League is to be held shortly to consider the Taranaki Bullion 'Carnival scheme. | Messrs Hurst, S. Forsyth, and C. AV; Mouillaire have been nominated as can- j didates for the Oeo Riding vacancy on the Egmont Council. !
