We drove back the Turks west of Vashan, on the southern shore of Lake Van. •- SPRINGING A MINE; - " Received Jan. 23, 11 p.m. Amsterdam, Jan. 22. A German communique says: Our mines destroyed seventy metres of trenches south-eastward of Ypres. London. Jan. 23. General Haig reports: The enemy sprang a mine near Comines Canal, and we then occupied the crater. SUCCESSFUL BOMBARDMENTS. Wellington, Jan. 22. The High Commissioner reports under date London, January 21, 1.25 a.m.:— In a bombardment close to the station at Chaulnes the enemy works suffered by our fire and an explosion. North of the Aisne, on the Corbeny Road, an enemy column was caught by our fire. The bombardment was general.
