NORMANBY.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) The annual pic-nic in connection with the Presbyterian Church Sunday School was held in Victoria Park on' Friday, and was favored with glorious weather. There was a large attendance, and a happy time was spent by the youngsters. Advantage was taken to bid farewell to Mrs. Butler, wife of the licv. J. W. Butler, who for some time has been pastor in charge of the Normanby district, and who is now on active service with the forces in Samoa. During he.» residence here Mrs Butler lias been very popular with all classes, especially the young people, and through her instrumentality many pleasant evening have been spent in the Town Hall at entertainments given by children trained by her. Burins: the afternoon, Mr. Antrobus, on behalf of the congregations here and at Okaiawa, presented Mrs. Butler with an afternoon tea service, ami with a case of silver teaspoon.? from the Sunday School children. In making (he presentation, Mr. Antrobus spoke in glowing terms of the good work done by Mrs. Butler, and trusted that when using the gifts kindly remembrances of her stay in Normanby would be brought to mind. Miss Butler was presented with a handsome case containing a silver but-ton-book, shoehorn etc. by the congregation and friends, and Miss Dora received a handsome birthday book from tho children.

The Kev. Alfred Lawrence (Mr*. Butler's father), who has been conducting the services since Mr. Butler left, was presented with a handsome walking stick, and replied on behalf of his daughter and himself for the very handsome gifts. A pleasing feature of the gathering was that all denominations were represented, amongst the visitors being the Rev. Mr. flrantr Cowen, vicar of Hawera. Mrs. Butler and family leave Xornianby on Thursday next for Christchurch.
