COMMITTEE MEETING. A committee meeting of the Taranaki A. and P. Association was held at New Plymouth on Saturday, when there were present:—Messrs. J. Connctt (president) in the chair, C. Fail-brother, A. T. Moore, R. 11. Pigott, B. Honeyfield, I). J. Hushes, W. B. Grant, Si Brooks, J. Allen, W. Seott, G. Colson, A. 8. Frost, T. Lister, T. Luxton, S. Topliss, C. W. Reubbi, and the secretary (A. L. Humphries.) Messrs 8. Topliss, representing North Taranaki Dairy Company, , and Serge!, Agricultural Instructor to the New Plymouth Technical College, were added to the Committee. POSTAGE ON SCHEDULES. Mr. H. A. Leiinon, secretary to the South Taranaki Winter Show -.committee, wrote in connection with postage on circulars, pointing out that this item was a very considerable one, and that he was writing to the postal authorities on the matter and asking that a basis rate of on half penny should be introduced. During the year, no doubt, an extra halt' penny would be imposed. He bad endeavored to have the A. and P. Associations' schedules registered as a magazine, but without avail, and he considered that the only hope lay in concerted action. The secretary stated that the schedules varied in weight, and those that weighed just slightly over cost extra postage. It was decided to support the proposal.
OFFICIALS. Officials were appointed as follows: Marshall, Mr. F. Watson; general overseers, Messrs. R. Johnstone and W, B. Grant; paddoeking committee, the I President and R. Johnstone; train stewards, Messrs. R. Johnstone, N. W. Hill and A, M. L. Thompson. Appointment of the stewards was left to the executive. The president stated that with a view' to giving the younger people an interest in the show, lie had approached Mr. W. H. iloyes with respect to appointing some, of the High School boys as stewards in cadi class. Mr. Moves had offered to allow his boys to act in any capacity required. Mr. Sergei had also offered the services of the Technical College class. Members expressed appreciation of the offers, which will be taken advantage of, and an endeavour will be made to place the lads in sections in which they arc likely to be most interested. GENERAL. On the suggestion of the president, Messrs. S. Topliss (Waihi), C. Andrews (Okato), and If. ("'. Sampson (Hillsborough) were appointed a committee to arrange for a better exhibit of machinery. When canvassing for members, he was repeatedly asked why the society did not cater more for those interested in machinery. He considered that this section could be considerably improved. Already he had an oll'cr from an outside firm to exhibit. It was' resolved to engage Mrs. Wood's orchestra to provide the music. The arranging for the catering and the publicans booth was left in the hands of the chairman. Messrs. L. A. Nolan, A. T. Moore, C. ,S. Fairbrother, ami J. Garcia were appointed an advertising committee, Mr. G. V. Tate was appointed to work in conjunction with Mr. Henry King as judge of the field competitions at the Winter Show.
