AMUSEMENTS.

EMPIRE PICTURES. "Fatty's Plucky Pup" heads the new programme at the Empire to-night. It is a 2000 ft Keystone star comedy and features Fatty, the favorite Keystone comedian. For yoniiiiie, spontaneous laughter this farce-comedy eclipses all the previous cirorts of Fatty and his Keystone friends. "The Hair of Her Head," "Her Answer" and "The Americans" are three splendid dramas, "The Topical Budget'' c-ontaina very interesting war scenes. Another fine picture is "Grand Assault-at-anua, Wellington," which was arranged by the Wellington Patriotic Society, " THE MILLION DOLLAR MYSTERY," The great rage of the film world in America and Australasia are the serial pictures which extend over a number of weeks before the final screening of the picture. The Thanhouser Company arranged with Harold McGrath to write a iserial that for sensation, exciting situations and interesting scenes would easily rank superior to any serial produced. "The Million Dollar Mystery" wherever shown has achieved that success, and the whole of the twenty-three episodes form a coherent romance that easily takes precedence over other films. "The Million Dollar Mystery"' will start on its screening at the Empire Theatre on Saturday next, and will be unreeled week by week until the twentythird grand startling episodes arc finally brought to a successful conclusion. The first episode which starts "The Million Dollar Mys'tery"on the long trail, is a remarkable adventure and romantic story, "The Airship in the Night," in which the principal characters of the picture make their debut. In this film the mystery attracts all the clever gang of criminals, who, like vultures, pounce on unwary wealthy individuals, and they in their turn are watched by the master minds of the leading sleuth hounds of the Continental detective force. The trial of wits and counter stroke proceed excitingly every week, and one feels 'that they must not miss one instalment of this most thrilling serial. The prices of admission will be as usual.

THEATRE ROYAL. To-night's star Is the United Kineograph Film Co.'s feature, "Money." It tells a heart-gripping story anil is deeply interesting. The staging is the most elaborate conceivable. Money was no object in the production of tiie elaborate scenes, costumes and settings. In one of the scenes an entire palace is bnrned and destroyed with all its rich Oriental furnishings and hangings. The Californian scenery is wonderfully beautiful. The a>?tiop furnishes thrill upon thrill. No better film has ever been seen in New Plymouth. Supporting films include dramas, comics and topicals, and a specially interesting film, "Life in a 'Bulgarian Village."
