Thirty young revolutionaries, som» formerly naval students, boarded the Chaoso at dusk and received permission to inspect the vessel. Suddenly they drew revolvers and seized the commander. They secured the key of the magazine and overawed the crew, kill ing four and wounding five. They then ordered the gunners to fire on the arsenal. The gunners elevated the gun*, but only hit the foreign settlement. Two effective warships in the harbor refrained from firing on the Chaoso, but the shore batteries opened (ire. Boarding parties were despatched which, however returned. Three well-placed shots at daybreak absorbed the noting courage of the revolutionaries, who escaped in a lauach. JAPAN STEPS IN. Received Dec. 8, 10.45 p.m. Tokio, Dec. 1 Japan has sent several warships to Shanghai.
