SALVATION ARMY.
ANNIVERSARY TEA. The special services in connection with the Salvation Army anniversary in. New Plymouth were brought to a close on Monday evening, when a most successful tea and concert was held in the Good Tenu-V Trait T. ■ cn tea tables were all decorated in toe colours of the Allies, and were laden with an abundance of good things. There was a large crowd at the tea, and nearly all the table 9 had second sittings. Mrs Adjutant Home was in charge, and was assisted by Mesdames Black, Smith, Trim, Siffleet, Person and Gilbert, and Misses Bennett, Trim, Bocock (2), Roch, Hawes and Gavidson, while a bevy of otfier young ladies assisted.
The concert which followed was largely attended. It Was presided over by Adjutant Home. During the evening Adjutant and Mrs. Scotnry and Captain Hildreth took part in several vocal items, while Mr. Asher received au encore for his solo and Captain Allen wab also encored for his stirring recitation. Miss Asher contributed a piano solo and Miss H. Bennett gave a recitation, while the Army Band, under (Bandmaster Rocli, rendered a couple of items in a pleasing manner. During the programme tho Rev. F. Hales gave an address, in which he congratulated the Army on !?s work" and expressed good wishes for the coming year. Votes of thanks to all who had assisted to make the gathering sudi a success, were passed, and the singing of 'God Save the King" concluded a most successful gathering.
