AMUSEMENTS.
MARY PICKFORD AT ROYAL PICTURES—SATURDAY. Little Mary Pickford and her husband, Owen Moore, act together in a charming comedy "How Mary Fixed It." The star drama is a story of the trials and temptations of an American shipgirl, entitled "The Straight and Narrow Path." It is a Kftlem production. A 2000 ft. star comedy by Keystone entitled "When Ambrose Dared Walrus" features Mack Swain and Chester Conklin. Other films to be shown are "Departure of "2nd Maori Reinforcements," "At the Stroke of 5" (drama), and tho Topical Budget.
"OUR DAREDEVIL CHIEF." At the Empire Theatre to-night the lrst screening takes place of "Our Daredevil Chief," described a? the best Keystone comedy for a considerable lime. The inimitable screen policeman. Ford Stirling, is cast as the Chief of Police, and is credited with making ithe hit of his career. It is claimed that not only is this eoinedv one of the best Utu<;h provocations ever .submitted, but the wonderfully funny incidental fooling embodies an unusual number of original mid unhackneyed ideas. "Our Daredevil Chief" was very successful at Auckland and Wellington. The star drirna of the list, "The Life Line," is said to be a particularly powerful and thrilling play from the famous Lubin studios, and in it Arthur V. Johnston will be seen to advantage. Another dramatic offering; possessing an appealing story, the action of which is divided between Italy and America, is "Haunting Memories." "An Actor's Boardinghouse" (comic), and the latest number of the Topical Gazette make up an attractive list. Seats may be reserved at the Theatre.
