ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
PAEM HAXD MISSINd. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston N., Nov. 27. Yesterday afternoon a married man. named John Soanp, employed on a farm on the bank of the Mnnawatu River in the Gorge, left on horseback to fetch some cows from an island at the confluence of the rivers. An hour later the rider Jess horse returned, but a search was without result. 'His hat was found in the morning. It is feared that his horse stumbled in crossing the river, and that the rider was drowned. A CHILD DROWNED. Stratford, Nov. 27. , A distressing fatality occurred at Pohokura early this afternoon, resulting in the loss of the eighteen-month child of Mr. Peter Roguski. It appears that the little one wandered away from the house and fell down a deep well. Employees from MeCluggage Bros.' mill were called by the distracted mother, and the child was rescued from the well. Resuscitation was attempted for an hour and a-half, but it wag without result.
