PROHIBITION IN NEWFOUNDLAND. By Cable.—Press Association—Copyright St. Johns (Newfoundland), Nov. 20. With the return for the St. Barhc district received the reports are iomplete and show that eighteen electoral districts in Newfoundland voted for prohibition. The plebiscite St. Barbe registered 1O0!) for prohibition and 4-37 against. This sets ofi' the majority registered against in other districts and the measure is carried by 4M votes. FATAL SHIPWRECK Victoria (Bri. Columbia), Nov. 2G. The Chilian four-masted full-rigged iron ship Carelmapu has been lost with all hands, numbering twenty-five. The vessel drove ashore before a terrific gale on the west const of Vancouver Island. The Canadian Pacific steamer Princess Macquenna at great risk tried to rescue the men who were clinging to the wrecked craft, but owing to the strong sea running was unable to work in close enough. One of the sailors from the wreck was washed overboard in sight of the helpless crew of the Princess Macquenna. SCOTTISH MINERS. London, Nov. 26. •Sir (i. Askwith has awarded the Scottish miners an advance of 3d a day. They asked for fld. A DESTRUCTIVE HURRICANE. New York, Nov. 26. Twelve were killed and thirty injured, some fatally, by a hurricane which swept the farming district of Littlecock (Arkansas). MuMi damage was done. Relief expeditions were organised and worked till darkness forced them to stop.
