NEW SEASON'S BUTTER.
TAR.INAKI SHIPMENT IK LONDON. MEETS A (JOOD MARKKT. The news that the Rotorua's shipment of the new season's butter was seliin!; in London at IGOs to l<J-la per cwt.. will be received with gratification in Taranaki, ifor the Rotoriia carried a quantity of butter from Taranaki. Prom New Plymouth. -071 boxes of buttei were shipped for transhipment to the Rotorua and from Patea 1712 boxes of butter were forwarded, making a total of 3783 boxes as Taranaki's initial shipment this season.
It is estimated that the f.o.b. price of this shipment would be His per ewt., so that the net value of the shipment can lie put down at Is ,I%d per lb. "Thin is a very good |,rjoc indeed," remarked a business man connected with the dairving industry, "but 1 expect to see the prices go up even further. The world's markets have been greatly disturbed by the war. Denmark, which has previously been the chief supplier to the London markets, has been obtaining record prices for dairy produce in flermany. Hut, while the Danish export to London will probably be restricted, other countries which have hitherto sent largo shipments to London will, during tho war, be unable to export."
