MINISTER OF EDUCATION.

A VISIT TO TARAXAKI. The Minister of Education, the Ho*. J. A, Hunan, will arrive at Hawera tliia evening on a brief visit to South T:ira« uaki. He will be accompanied by the chairman of the Wanganui Education Board.

On arrival at Hawera, tho Minister will be welcomed by the Mayor and other leading vitiezns, and after dinner he will receive several deputations. To-morrow morning at 8.30, lie will visit (lie Tawhiti School, and at 0.30 be at Tokaora. He is timed to arrive at Mr. Stevenson's place at Kapuni at 10.30, and at Rowan Road at 11.30. The party will lunch at Kaponga, and will then proceed to Mangatoki, arriving there at 1.30; thence on to Matapau at 3 o'clock, and back to Hawera at 4 o'clock. The Minister will return South by the ex. pre3s on Thursday morning. Some time ago the Taranaki Education Board wrote to the Miniater of Education asking him to visit this district, but Mr. Hanan then replied that he would be unable to do no. Yesterday, Mr. H. Trimble (chairman of the Board), again communicated with the Minister, repeating the invitation to come to N T eW Plymouth, but up to last night no reply had been received. There are several matters on which the Board wishes to confer with the Minister, but unless Mr. Hanan extenifs his visit to here it is unlikely that the Board will have a deputation to wait on Mr. Ilanan. Arrangements are being made for a deputation from the New Plymouth High School Board to wait on the Minister at Hawera. The chairman ("Mr, E. Dockrill). was yesterday arranging with Mr. H. O'tey, M.P., to accompany a deputation, which, it is proposed, should go to Hawera by the mail train tomorrow morning. Definite arrangements I have not yet been completed.
