The very showery weal her experienced ha% however, prevented tarring and amling being proceeded with. ° The following work has been done on the tram route. —(1) Krom Ilenui Bridge to Xob's Line: Length 7 chains bv 2-ift. wide metalled, length 8 chnins bv 17ft, wide metalled; (2) Liurdct to' Robe street: Length IS chains hv 13ft. wide excavated and metalled; length 10 chains by Lift, wide pitched and metalled; (3) Henui Bridge to Hobson Street: Both sides of tram line graded oil'; (4) Breakwater Road: length 10 chains by lift, wide excavated ready for pitching, 2f> chains by lift, wide'metalled, chains metalled; (5) A substantial start has been made on the work oi widening the road, where required, between" the Moturou Hotel and the terminus.
